Announcing The Curious Case of Prince Charming!

I'm so stoked!  But this IS all about the background of The Fairy Tale Case Files, so it seems appropriate to tell you all about it as part of the whole 'yay book publication coming!' *** About...oh, god, 8 years ago...way back in freaking 2012, I was watching my son who was three at the time play with his Bowser, Mario and Princess Peach plush toys. I was also stewing. It was nearly the end of October and I had no ideas for the upcoming National Novel Writing Month which I had been planning to take part in, but due to having, you know, a three year old, I forgot to do any planning or even think of anything. Fuming at my own lack of planning, I watched as Bowser rescued Peach (Because my son at the time loved Bowser the most) and an idea was born... In 2013, I was cruising a freelancing bidding site looking for work when I came across a post asking for submissions to a new publication house that was just starting up. I looked at the post... then I looked at the manuscript

Book Review: Wyrd Sisters

Image
I'm in a Book Club on Facebook (which is why there are so many reviews this year!) Every two weeks, they post a challenge. This challenge was to read a book with a family member title in it. I mean, obviously it had to be Wyrd Sisters. Duh.   BOOK TITLE: Wyrd Sisters AUTHOR: Terry Pratchett DESCRIPTION OF BOOK COVER: Stereotypical witch with a hook nose looking up at the green ghost of a king with holding a dagger and a rather worried look on his face, and bats flying overhead. A lot of green and turquoise coloring. GENRE : Fantasy/Comedy PAGES:   332 BLURB: “Things like crowns had a troublesome effect on clever folks; it was best to leave all the reigning to the kind of people whose eyebrows met in the middle.” Three witches gathered on a lonely heath. A king cruelly murdered, his throne usurped by his ambitious cousin. A child heir and the crown of the kingdom, both missing… Witches don’t have these kind of dynastic problems themselves – in fact, they don’t have le

Announcement Time!!

I'm so excited everyone!    Gaze upon it! Gaze! So. My editor, the amazing Eva, got back to me yesterday and said that she would be done editing The Curious Case of Prince Charming within the week. (Plus a day or two buffer, so figure by Jan 29 thereabouts).  This means that the re-release of Curious Case is tentatively set for early February! I have no idea how long it takes Amazon to approve books, so I can't give an exact date, but I intend to get it all up and ready for them as soon as I get the manuscript back and get it pasted into the template Amazon wants me to use. The book will be available for Kindle and paperback. It'll be cheaper than what it was originally since I'm not working through a publisher. I'm super stoked everyone!  I have no idea how pre-orders work, but if I can get them working, I will certainly do them (probably not for terribly long though).  Also, if you live in Prince George and you order one, let me know and I'll sign it for you,

Book Review: The Mystery of Montague House

Image
I'm spreading out my genre reading wings. Because I want to boost the signal for other authors when I read something I enjoy.  And it's good to diversify, or so I'm told. BOOK TITLE: The Mystery of Montague House AUTHOR: Emma Davies DESCRIPTION OF BOOK COVER: A magnifying glass in the middle over the last three letters in the word House with a Basset Hound looking up from the bottom right corner. Color scheme is light burgundy. GENRE: Murder Mystery/Cozy (Dash of paranormal) PAGES: 289 BLURB: With enough rooms to fill a Cluedo board several times over, Montague House has often been the subject of rumour and gossip. Tales of strange goings on, an owner who disappeared one day and was never seen again, not to mention the treasure that rumour has it lies at its heart... But now the present owner has died and the house is to be sold. Has the opportunity come to finally settle the stories once and for all? Clodagh Wynter doesn’t believe in ghostly goings on and t

Review: The Woman in the Woods

Image
BOOK TITLE: The Woman in the Woods AUTHOR: JE Rowney DESCRIPTION OF BOOK COVER: Woman in red, back to the audience, staring out into a forest of thin looking trees. The title is in red (Woman and Woods) and white. GENRE: Psychological Thriller PAGES: 117 BLURB: Seb is an asshole. Katie is an angel. When Seb’s night-time activity stretches their relationship to their limits, the couple decide to take a last-chance holiday to see if there’s anything left to be fixed. The cabin looks idyllic, but behind the soft furnishings and fluffy throws there’s a creepy sense of unease. They thought they were fighting for their relationship – will they end up fighting for their lives? # OF STARS: 3 **I was given an advance copy of this to review. Thanks JE Rowney! I’m going to preface this with the bald face admittance that I don’t read much psychological thriller. It’s never been my jam. But I want to broaden my genre horizons, so when the call came out for reviews on the
